About The Author

Hello! I’m Jen Ashcraft, a follower of Jesus Christ and I live in Columbus, Ohio, with my husband, Chris; two kids, Grace and Caleb; a sneaky dog, and a Garfield-like cat. I was born in Chesterland, Ohio, and I graduated from Cedarville University. As a child, I asked my mom many questions about life. Through her lovingly taking the time to answer them and C.S. Lewis’ The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, I was led to invite Jesus ‘into my heart’ at an early age. I am grateful because looking back I can see more and more just how much I need Him!

Like young Rachel in the story Please Turn on the Light!, I have had to trust God’s faithfulness to reveal His presence, light, and peace in many fearful situations. Here are just a few of my Ebenezer’s (“Stones of help”) to highlight God’s strength in my weakness. I went public with my faith by getting baptized in middle school, which was very scary for me considering how shy I was. As a teenage homebody, Jesus walked me through 2 over-seas missions trips. As a young mother, God enabled me to begin what turned out to be years of leading Bible studies with an international Bible study. Eventually, He enabled me to teach His Word to a classroom of 7th graders. And, more recently, I had to trust Him to walk me through a life-threatening illness which left me bed ridden and couch ridden for almost a year. Through it all, God has proven His faithfulness, revealed His presence and His tender, pursuing love, as well as, confirmed, over and over again, that His Light is more powerful than the darkness of my fears.

He has taken me from being a very shy, introverted little girl, to serving Him as a Bible study leader, teacher, and now serving Him globally in this book ministry, spreading His comforting love and overcoming power to children and adults. Life with God is certainly an unexpected adventure! –Not one I want my fears to hold me back from experiencing! …How about you? Will you trust His trustworthiness and, though afraid, join Him in the adventure He has for you?
